This course page provides an overview on training material that introduces technical standards in Diamond OA publishing. You may choose the topic of your interest from the menu on the left and browse through the collected material.All material is described in terms of content, the technical standard addressed, the creators, the year it was created and the mode of training in order to help you select the most suitable training material. The majority of the material is in English but we would be happy to highlight more multilingual resources (cf. Feedback and Content).This overview of training material on technical standards in Diamond OA publishing was created as part of the CRAFT-OA project. -
The material presented in this course is structured along the categories of the Reusable curriculum for upskilling trainings [on Diamond OA standards and technologies] that are divided into modules §5.1-§5.5. Additionally, overarching material is presented that does not correspond with one on the modules in particular.

Created in 2023 by Iryna Kuchma and Milica Ševkušić from EIFL, this checklist is aimed at OJS users. Of particular interest with regards to technical standards may be the sections about pugins and indexation in the DOAJ. Content accessibility and visibility are also addressed.

These two documents were created by OPERAS/CO-OPERAS in 2022 and comprise the training material of two workshops organized jointly by CO-OPERAS, the OPERAS SIG on standards and FAIR principles and the OpenEdition Center. The trainings were proposed to OpenEdition's open access journal publishers who were newly integrated on OpenEdition's publishing platform. The workshop aimed at presenting them the basics of metadata quality, its purpose in the global research ecosystem, and the tools helping to manage publications' metadata.

This jupyter notebook was created by IBL PAN in 2024 and includes a script to create xml files with metadata and upload them to the Crossref deposit page for registration of DOI numbers. It specifically addresses the lack of DOIs for historic issues of SSH journals.

Produced as part of the COPIM project, this resource from 2023 has a focus on digital preservation of monographs. However, especially the introductions in chapter 1 and chapter 2 as well as the glossary-type explanations from p. 115 ff. proof to be of interest for the Diamond OA journals community too.

As this is part of the Open Book Collective's 2023 Toolkit for Small and Scholar-Led OA Publishers, the focus is on archiving books. The concise explanations of archives like CLOCKSS/LOCKSS and file formats like XML/PDF/A are nevertheless a good ressource, particularly in the section "Key issues".

Designed by DOAJ and OASPA in 2023 this toolkit is available as a website and in a PDF version that can be downloaded. It comprises short handbook-like entries for editorial and technical issues. Topics such as metadata, PIDs (especially DOIs) and publishing software are included in the toolkit.

This forum was launched by Crossref, DOAJ, COPE and OASPA in 2023. It is not dedicated exclusively to technical issues but there is a subpage on metadata addressing topics like DOIs and crossref. More topics may be added by users who seek exchange or support.

In 2022 PKP hosted a webinar on compliance with Plan S in OJS. The recording is available alongside more in-depth information in the PKP documentation under the link above.

This large collection of material was created within the FOSTER project (H2020). It includes a variety of types of training ranging from slides to videos. Everything may be downloaded and reused.
