Digital grain and thin section micrographs of petrologically representative IRD particles in sediment core GeoB18530-1

The micrographs of the representive IRD particles showcase the pristine physical appearances of the IRD and their mineralogical compositions. Digital images of the pristine IRD samples were captured using Keyence VHX 6000 digital light reflectance microscope whereas that of the thin sections were obtained using Leica EC3 polarizing microscope through the use of LAS EZ software. All images (both digital and thin section images) were subsequently scaled and labelled using imageJ software and Corel Draw.
