Gloria, alima, bahamas and ecmwf ifs data for southtrac flight 10 from 16 to 17 september 2019

Abstract: This dataset includes airborne observations together with forecasts and analyses that were used to study non-orographic gravity waves during research flight ST10 of the SouthTRAC campaign. The flight was carried out by the German research aircraft HALO (High Altitude and LOng Range Research Aircraft) on 16 and 17 September 2019 from Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. The airborne observations include remote sensing observations of temperature and trace gases by GLORIA (Gimballed Limb Observer for Radiance Imaging of the Atmosphere by KIT and Forschungszentrum Jülich) and temperature by ALIMA (Airborne LIdar for Middle Atmosphere research by DLR-IPA). Furthermore, airborne in situ observations of temperature, the three wind components and further parameters by BAHAMAS (Basic Halo Measurement and Sensor System by DLR-FX) at a data rate of 10 Hz and 100 Hz are included. The observations are also available via the HALO database (https://halo-db.pa.op.dlr.de/ongoing_subset/1108). The forecasts and analyses include deterministic short-term forecasts and six-hourly operational analyses from the integrated forecast system (IFS) of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). ECMWF IFS data are available at https://www.ecmwf.int/en/forecasts. The terms of use by the ECMWF apply. TechnicalRemarks: Detailed information on the GLORIA data can be found at:
