Abstract: The data sets found here were collected with the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft (German Aerospace Center, DLR) in the Inn Valley, Austria, from 1 Aug 2019 to 13 Oct 2019, within the CROSSINN field campaign (Cross-valley flow in the Inn Valley investigated by dual-Doppler lidar measurements). The goal of the campaign was to study the multi-scale three-dimensional flow structure and the impact of the flow on the mountain atmospheric boundary layer (MoBL) structure and evolution across the Inn Valley. Further details of the campaign can be found in Adler et al (2020).

TechnicalRemarks: ### DATA SET DESCRIPTION
1. Spatial coverage
Measurements were collected during the CROSSINN field campaign in the Inn Valley, Austria. The focus of the campaign was located at a mild valley curvature approximately 20 km northeast of Innsbruck. This data set contains aircraft measurements conducted during five IOPs.
2. Temporal coverage
IOP1 - 05.08.2019
IOP2b - 09.08.2019
IOP4 - 14.08.2019
IOP6 - 22.08.2019
IOP7b - 27.08.2019
3. Instrument details and data file structure
Available here is a single file, FDLR.zip, containing the following folder structure:
10 Hz folder contains quality-controlled (following Mallaun et al, 2015) raw measurements (temporal resolution 10 Hz) collected with the METPOD meteorological sensor package mounted on the Cessna Grand Caravan 208B of the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
100 Hz folder contains quality-controlled (following Mallaun et al, 2015) raw measurements (temporal resolution 100 Hz) collected with the METPOD meteorological sensor package mounted on the Cessna Grand Caravan 208B of the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
overview folder contains .kml, .kmz, and .pdf overviews of all ten flights, performed during five selected CROSSINN Intensive Observation Periods (IOP). Additionally, the file 'extracted_straight_leg_segments.txt' contains starting and ending indices of the straight leg segments, obtained for the 10 Hz data set by Nevio Babić. The image 'google_earth_flightpattern_sites.jpg' contains a sample of a combined set of along-valley and cross-valley legs.
4. Locations
The along-valley and cross-valley legs were flown in the vicinity of the CROSSINN investigation area, centered at the Kolsass headquarter site.
Kolsass - 47.305290°N / 11.622231°E
