Simulating the influence of primary biological aerosol particles on clouds by heterogeneous ice nucleation

TechnicalRemarks: This file contains the data used in the following manuscript:

Hummel, M., Hoose, C., Pummer, B., Schaupp, C. E., Fröhlich-Nowoisky, J., and Möhler, O.: Simulating the Influence of Primary Biological Aerosol Particles on Clouds by Heterogeneous Ice Nucleation, Atmos. Chem. Phys. Discuss., https://doi.org/10.5194/acp-2018-182, 2018

and the corresponding manuscript in Atmos. Chem. Phys.

The folder names correspond to the simulations (5 ensemble members each) as follows:

BIO: db_m_18Sept14, db_l_09Okt14, db_r_11Okt14, db_u_18Okt14, db_d_22Okt14 DST: d_m_10Jul14, d_u_02Jul14, d_d_29Jun14, d_l_12Jul14, d_r_16Jul14

The ensemble data are the basis for Figures 7, 8, 9 and 10.

The data of the reference simulation shown in Figures 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 is contained in folder db_m_18Sept14.

The data folder contain the full 4D fields (x,y,model levels, time) of the following variables (one file per variable, hourly time resolution):

P_BACTERIA: bacteria concentration [#/m^-3] P_FUNGAL2: fungal spore concentration [#/m^-3] T: temperature [K] QNICE: specific cloud ice number [#/kg (air)^-1] CLDPOL7: temperature [K] used as input for INP parameterization CLDPOL9: number of occurrences of bacterial INP>0 [#/hour]
CLDPOL10: accumulated concentration of bacterial INP [#/(m^-3 hour)]
CLDPOL12: number of occurrences of fungal spore INP>0 [#/hour]
CLDPOL13: accumulated concentration of bacterial INP [#/(m^-3 hour)]
CLDPOL15: number of occurrences of bact. + fungal spore INP>0 [#/hour] CLDPOL17: instantaneous concentration of bact. + fungal spore INP [#/m^-3]
CLDPOL18: accumulated concentration of dust+soot INP [#/(m^-3 hour)] CLDPOL19: accumulated total INP [#/(m^-3 hour)] CLDPOL21: number of occurrences of dust+soot INP>0 [#/hour]

files tab_z.txt and lfff00000000c.nc (in folder db_m_18Sept14) contain the information on the conversion of model levels to altitude.
