Cloud observing data of 85 stations in western central africa

Abstract: The dataset includes the cloud type and cloud cover at 85 different stations in western Central Africa. On the one hand, the dataset contains the original values as well as homogenized values. TechnicalRemarks: This dataset consists of cloud fraction and cloud genus data from 85 stations in western Central Africa from 1971-2019. The database is based on the following databases: Extended Edited Synoptic Cloud Reports Archive (EECRA), Integrated Surface Dataset (ISD), Met Office Integrated Data Archive System (MIDAS), and the African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis (AMMA). The dataset starts on 1st May 1971, covers 3 hourly the months May to October and ends on 31st October 2019. The variables in the dataset cover the cloud fraction, cloud type, homogenized cloud fraction, and a flag for the variables where its origin is. The homogenization of the dataset is discribed in Moron et al. (2022, submitted) and in the meta data discreption of the NetCDF file.
