Landscapedndc (v1.30.4)

Abstract: LandscapeDNDC is a simulation framework for terrestrial ecosystem simulation on site, regional and global scale (Haas et al. 2013). LandscapeDNDC emerged from the MoBiLE framework (Grote et al. 2009b), which originated from the 1-D process-oriented Arable-DNDC and Forest-DNDC models (Li et al. 1992a, b, 1994, 2000; Stange et al. 2000). The modular design of LandscapeDNDC allows plugging in any process descriptions for simulating microclimate, water-, carbon- and nitrogen balances, as well as plant growth and yield of natural, semi-natural and agricultural ecosystems. Thus, also enabling consistent representation of land-use change by using different vegetation modules together with the same soil module. One important technical feature of LandscapeDNDC is its capability to run over many sites (i.e. simulating many grid cells) with a single program invocation. If running in such a mode, all cells are time-synchronized, which is highly significant for model coupling (Haas et al. 2013; Klatt et al. 2017). LandscapeDNDC is parallelized using MPI allowing the deployment on High Performance Computer (HPC) environments.
