Zooplankton community composition changes in response to exposure to Prymnesium parvum

The acute toxigenic effects of the haptophyte Prymnesium parvum on a zooplankton community from Lake Texoma, OK-TX, USA were investigated under laboratory conditions. Zooplankton were collected from Soldier Creek (33.927829, -96.682097). The data within this file represent initial and final measurements of zooplankton abundances (individuals/Liter). Adult crustacean zooplankton were identified and enumerated on a dissecting microscope at 50-100x magnification. Zebra mussel veligers, copepod nauplii, and rotifers were identified and enumerated on an inverted microscope at 200x magnification. Each row of this data set represents the zooplankton community composition of one bottle. Treatments are described in the column labeled 'Treatment', and represent either initial measurement of community composition before exposure ('Initial'), or final measurement after 48 hours of treatment with either the toxigenic algae Prymnesium parvum (at three densities, '200k', '100k', '50k') or control ('0ppt' represents a freshwater control, whereas '6ppt' represents a control with salinity of 6 ppt).
