Design capacity, in terms of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), of urban wastewater treatment plants with advanced treatment
The design capacity of waste water treatment plants is characterised by the total quantity of oxygen-demanding material that can be treated daily with a certain efficiency. For biological treatment plants the BOD-capacity is mostly limited by the oxygenation capacity, i.e. the quantity of oxygen that can be brought into the water to keep the oxygen concentration on a suitable level.
