Counts of foraminifera and nannofosslils from sediment core M25/4-KL12
The dataset contains the raw counting of benthic and planktic foraminifers and calcareous nannofossils retrieved in the first meter of the core M25/4-12 (Ionian Sea; Mediterranean; 37°58'N 18°11'E). The calcareous nannofossil sample were prepared with the standard smearslide technique and successively observed with the optical microscope at 1250X of magnification. The taxonomic identification followed Young et al. (2017 (International Nannoplankton Association. Accessed 27 Apr. 2017. https://www.mikrotax.org/Nannotax3/)). The foraminifers sample were dried and then wet sieved to obtain two size fractions: >150 µm and 150-63 µm. Observations were performed with a stereomicroscope at 100X of magnification. The taxonomic identification of foraminifers followed Darling et al. (2016, doi:10.1029/2005pa001189). The analysis were performed in the 2016-2020 period in the Department of Life and Environmental Science (UNIVPM).
