Dissolved neodymium concentrations and neodymium isotope compositions for deep water (≥1500 m) samples of R/V SONNE cruise SO245-UltraPac in the South Pacific
This dataset includes seawater neodymium (Nd) concentrations and Nd isotope signatures (expressed as ε-Nd) obtained from a zonal deep-water (1500 – 5321 m water depth) transect across the oligotrophic South Pacific gyre. The samples were collected during cruise SO245 with R/V Sonne as part of the GEOTRACES process study GPpr09 from February 17th 2015, to January 28th 2016. The samples were processed and analysed following the GEOTRACES protocols. Across 8 stations, dissolved Nd ranges from 10.76 to 31.1 pmol/kg with an overall increase with water depth, but slightly lower concentrations in the deep Southeast Pacific compared to the Southwest Pacific. The isotope composition shows ε-Nd values ranging from -8.5 to -3.9 with lowest ε-Nd (ε-Nd = -8.5 to -7.5) in the deep Pacific west of the East Pacific Rise (EPR) and more radiogenic εNd values (εNd = -6 to -4) east of the EPR.
