Dataset of micropollutant concentrations and standard water quality parameters in wastewater treatment plants, combined sewer overflows, and stormwater outfalls in germany

Abstract: This dataset includes micropollutant concentrations (up to 95 substances) and standard water quality parameters analysed in samples from 49 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), 12 combined sewer overflows (CSOs) and 2 stormwater outfalls (SSO) in Germany. WWTP samples were collected as multi-day composite samples from October 2017 to April 2019. CSO and SSO samples were collected as event composite samples from November 2016 to December 2019 and from July 2018 to April 2019, respectively. The sampling was conducted as part of research projects on behalf of the Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) and the Bavarian Environment Agency (Bayerisches Landesamt für Umwelt). The context and scope of the data, the methods used in the monitoring, and data analyses are reported in Nickel et al. (2021). Additional information can be found in the project reports (Fuchs et al. 2020a, Fuchs et al. 2020b, Nickel & Fuchs 2020). FUNDING: The monitoring was financed by the federal states of Germany and was technically and administratively supported by the Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt). The additional monitoring of 10 combined sewer overflows in Bavaria was financed by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection (Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Umwelt und Verbraucherschutz).
