Short-term Comprehensive CO2 Degassing Dataset from a Mofette at the Starzach Site in Winter 2022 Obtained with a Custom Flow Meter, Including Atmospheric Variables

This dataset comprises one week of advective CO2 degassing from a mofette at the Starzach site, recorded with the device presented in Büchau et. al. (2023). The instrument used is a custom-built flow meter consisting of a cut-open 50 cm barrel with a chimney channelling the emitted CO2 from a mofette. A miniature cup anemometer is mounted in the center of the chimney. An STC31 CO2 sensor, an SHTC3 temperature and humidity sensor and a BME280 pressure sensor is mounted laterally in the chimney. In addition, a brandless PTC thermistor is placed in the center of the chimney to measure the undisturbed gas temperature. Atmospheric measurements from an independent Gill MaxiMet GMX541 compact weather station in 2 m height complement the gas flux measurements. The gas flow measurements provide insight into the previously unrecognised geyser-like degassing behaviour of the mofettes at the Starzach site.
