Dataset for modelling spanwise heterogeneous roughness through a parametric forcing approach

"Modelling spanwise heterogeneous roughness through a parametric forcing approach" by K. Schäfer, A. Stroh, P. Forooghi and B. Frohnapfel published in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2021.

The dataset of each simulation is saved in a separate numpy file. The python script "plot_figures.py" illustrates how to read all datasets and how to plot selected figures from the paper.

Note:

The dataset of the previous publication on this topic (Stroh, Schäfer, Frohnapfel and Forooghi, Rearrangement of secondary flow over spanwise heterogeneous roughness, JFM, 2020) contained a mistake regarding the labeling of the considered smooth wall elevations. The paper erroneously states that those were ℎ = 0 (protruding roughness), h = k and h = 2k (recessed roughness) while the correct values are ℎ = 0, ℎ = 0.97k and ℎ = 1.70k instead. In addition, we identified a mistake in the post processing tool for the statistical averaging procedure that has been corrected. This dateset here contains the corrected data and evaluations for the simulations from the previous publication.
